The Terminator board game is based the 1984 movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and directed by James Cameron has launched a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign.  Officially named “The Terminator™: The Official Board Game” is being produced by Space Goat Productions and is played on two game boards that are separated by time period.  Decisions that are made on the 1984 board impact what happens in the future on the 2029 game board.  The Terminator board game comes with action figurines including Kyle Reese, Sarah Conner, Ed Traxler, John Conner and T800.

The launch of the Terminator board game was facilitated by multiple collaborators including Carter Allen, J.D. Boucher, Taylor Smith, T Payne, Lynnvander Studios, Josh Derksen, Damien Wright and Brendan Silk.  The company is offering a print and play demo so that potential backers can get a feel for the game and the rules.  Backerkit is collecting the shipping charges after the Kickstarter campaign ends

So far the Terminator board game has raised $153,342 through its Kickstarter fundraising campaign.  The Terminator™: The Official Board Game commenced crowdfunding on February 15, 2017 and reached its initial funding goal of $120,000 on February 16, 2017.  Space Goat Productions also created stretch goals that include 2nd Police Officer mold that will be added to the standard game box for reaching $225,000 in funding; additional action cards for Skynet X5 for $250,000 in funding; and an alternate T-800 for reaching $300,000 in crowdfunding.

For its backers Space Goat Productions constructed multiple reward levels, including:

  • Early bird that includes official Terminator board game and termination box for $70.
  • Retail package that includes 6 official board games and 6 termination boxes for $240.
  • The standard reward level for Terminator board game only is $60.

Terminator Board Game Inspired by 1984 Movie of Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger

The Terminator movie released in 1984 was directed by James Cameron and starred Arnold Schwarzenegger as a humanoid cyborg sent from the future in 2029 back to 1984 as an assassin to terminate a waitress named Sarah Conner (played by Linda Hamilton).  Sarah’s unborn son, John Connor, leads the resistance in the future against machines controlled by a computer called Skynet. In order to stop the Terminator from killing his mother, John sends back a fighter named Kyle Reese to protect his mother.

In addition to the original movie released in 1984, there have been four additional Terminator movie released to date: Terminator 2: Judgement Day (released in 1991), Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003), Terminator Salvation (2009) and Terminator Genisys (2015).   Adjusted for ticket price inflation, Terminator 2: Judgement Day has been the most popular movie at the box office, followed by Rise of the Machines, Salvation, Terminator and Genisys.
